Dear Friend,
We are Agnes and Krisztian the founders of Run Inn Budapest apartment hotel.
We are a young running couple in their late 30’s who have been working in Budapest tourism business for 20 years, from which we have been operating our own hotel business for 10 years now.
We are living on the outskirts of Budapest with our two fantastic daughters Bogi (10) and Sonia (4) at the time of making this site in 2015.
Our philosophy is that there is no success in life and business without a loving family. Both of us graduated from College of Trade, Hospitality and Tourism as economists. We are open minded healthy and happy people. Everyday sport from our childhood greatly contributed to our health, happiness and way of thinking.
Agnes started running 3 years ago. She runs half marathons and she created a massive community of running moms in Hungary as a blogger. Before she became a business woman, she worked as a tour guide, than for the Tourism Board of Budapest. She speaks English, German, Italian, Spanish.
Krisztian has been doing sports for 35 years (swimming, kayaking, judo, running), besides his business and investment activities he is running more seriously for the last 7 years. He completed 9 marathons ( PB 3:13) and a 100km ultra trail running race. Worked for Tourism Board of Budapest, Hilton and Park Plaza Hotels before started his own business in 2004.
Our Team
Although it would be nice to have all our colleagues and employees as active runners, but as we said we convert our existing Budapest accommodation into a runners' theme hotel so we have our staff already. We love them, they are family members, and some of them ar with us for about 7-8 years, and we can not dismiss some of them just for not being a runner. So dear friend, we can not promise that all of our employees you will meet are runners (basically this would be the part of the concept), but the owners are runners, our maintenance staff runs, our reservation managers are running, and one of the housekeeping staff is a runner. We are very proud of our team, without them we would hardly be where we are now. But who are they?
The idea of a Running Theme Hotel....
We love travelling, we have visited 57 countries so far. When we travel, we run everywhere as an alternative way to explore new cities, villages, hills and beaches.
We have been operating Budapest accommodation and apartments hotels since 2004 with success. 2014 was a hard year, during the last few years competition grew, average daily room rates have decreased and we had to admit to ourselves that we are just equally good as the competition, not better. We offer the same standard for the same price. Price was the only tool to compete with which leads to a dead end in every business. OK, so we have to offer something new, something special...We must have something that our competitors do not have.. We must be unique. But How? Posing questions for ourselves is the best way to proceed tovards the solution, so we did so....
... We were sitting in the camper van (RV) on a freeway and driving from Yosemitee NP to San Franciso (CA) . Kids were playing behind us, and Agnes and me were discussing difficulties of our business at home. We must specialize for a smaller group of potential customers, we agreed. Let's do a theme hotel. But which theme. Let's make a hotel for gay communities Agi said. OK, but we are not gay, (although we have no problem with them we tolerate any kind of diversity) we would not be authentic hosts for gay travellers. OK. In which topic would we be authentic hosts? What is our lifestyle? IT IS RUNNING and SPORST, this is the active life. Heureka! So let's make a Running Theme Hotel.... And here it is...:)
Nora - Hotel manager, reception. Nora is working with us for 6 years she used to work fo Marriott. She runs 3 times a week and her passion is cooking, she is just about launching her own business call Food Tour Budapest.
Kitty - Sales and Reservations Manager. Kitty is with us for 7 years. Most probably you will change e-mails and talk on the phone with her when making reservation or inquiries. She does power walking and raising her kid and dogs. She has beautiful smile, lots of energy and she is free! :)
Bogi - Reservations, Reception manager. Our young team member is just recently graduated from Collage of Tourism and Hotel Business, she is the hotelier of the future.
Elizabeth (Zsoka) - Executive Housekeeper. She is one of the souls of our family business for 8 years now. She takes care of your apartment to be in the best shape before and during your stay.
Attila - Maintenance.
He is a real runner, runs 3 times a weeks. He is smiling and is in good mood all the time, he can repair everything quickly. Without him we would have a hard time.
Lajos - reception. Charming young colleague with excellent English, who is doing his studies at the College of Hospitality and Tourism. It's a pleasure working with him
Ibolya - Airport Transfers. If you order our airport pick up service, you will meet this kind lady first, she will greet you at the airport holding a board with your name on it and will secure a safe and fast trip to your hotel's door. She is the grandmother of our daughters by the way :)
Nora - reception.
Enthusiastic young student speaking excellent English and Russian which is a rarity now in Hungary amonst youngsters.
Melinda - Houesekeeping
Great and hardworking colleague who is doing her best for your comfort and for that you can arrive into a clean room.
